One of my biggest struggles is feeling alone in my endeavors.
While I know there are people who support me and genuinely want me succeed, I often allow the voices of the doubters ring through my heart.
In those times, when I allow people to distract me from God’s will for my life, I battle overcoming negative thoughts. I’ve been praying about what to do in the actual moment, and God gave me a simple song lyric that has helped me tremendously!
Yes, I know that God’s words are the most powerful tool we have to fight against the battle of our minds, but sometimes God uses people. In this case it was Brett Stanfill when he penned the words to “Sons and Daughters”. The first time I heard the song this line hit me like a rock between the eyes.
With a cross He proved He’s on my side.
How awesome is that! I get a little embarrassed to think I’ve allowed others to dishearten and distract me when I have a Saviour who proved so clearly that He’s on my side. All the people in the world could try to discourage you and me into thinking we’re alone. But there’s one who stands by our side daily proving we are far from alone.
I’ve had this song on repeat lately because frankly, I need to. Hopefully it’s an encouragement to you too!
Psalms 118:6 The Lord is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me?
